There are no signs pointing the way to the ruins. Somewhat overgrown inside.

Whether it's worth it or not is something you'll have to ask yourself after the somewhat slippery climb up here... I liked it a lot

The ruin of a medieval hill fort is located here above the Ehrbach.
It was built during the Eltzer feud (1331–1336) as a defensive castle by Elector Baldwin of Luxembourg. The use was not long, so that it soon fell into ruins.
The inner courtyard is almost completely surrounded by a wall.
You can reach it after a short, but at the end relatively steep detour from Ehrbach (to the left of the small waterfall it goes up).

          The ruin of the Rauschenburg

Archbishop Balduin von Trier built the "Ruszimburg" in 1332 as a stronghold against the Ehrenburg, Waldeck Castle and Schöneck Castle.
The castle consists of a five-sided curtain wall, almost the entire complex is enclosed by a second lower wall. Towards the mountain slope, a ditch cuts the mountain saddle and forms a first obstacle to the approach. Remains of the gate and bridge foundations can be seen there. The ruins of residential buildings can be seen in the main castle. In the middle of the western curtain wall is the torso of a tower, perhaps the former donjon. The facility is accessible through two preserved gates. A third gate in the south-eastern curtain wall was probably walled up as early as the Middle Ages.

Very fascinating even with a castle book :)

Be sure to take the small detour to the castle. There are no signposts.

                  Huge ruin.
But I was disappointed by the limited opportunity to see the view.
