The foundation for the chapel had already been poured in 2019. However, due to Corona, construction could not take place earlier. This summer, the chapel was finally built. First, it was built in a workshop down in the valley and checked for accuracy before the individual parts were finally flown by helicopter to an altitude of 2,759 meters and screwed together there under the watchful eye of the association's board of directors. Two leaded glass windows from the old chapel room, refurbished by Norbert Decker, were able to be reinstalled. The Marienkapelle even has its own bell, whose name is based on the Marienaltar in Braunschweig Cathedral. The friends' circle bought the 50 kilogram bell from a bell collector in Munich. It was cast in London in 1893, one year after the Braunschweiger Hütte was built.
