      The park-like area around Villa Marialust was given the name ‘Verzetsstrijderspark’ in 1970. In 2010, a monument was placed in this park in memory of Apeldoorn resistance fighters: 17 stones with the names of resistance fighters who lived in Apeldoorn during the Second World War and paid for their acts of resistance with their lives. In the park you can also find the Verzetsstrijders Memorial. This monument consists of 19 rectangular black granite stones, each with one polished surface in which the names and the year of death of the various victims are engraved.
