There is now a sailing school and camping site where the Rhine swimming pool used to be. Here you can also see the overgrown remains of the brick factory dating from 1913. Before that time they had an innovative type of oven. It was a ring kiln: a small-scale test model of a zigzag kiln. This meant that less energy was needed for the same amount of stones. Later, more of this type of kilns were built along the major rivers, but on a larger scale. Rival was damaged by a flood. The crisis of the 1930s was subsequently disastrous for stone production here. At the end of the war, the factory was destroyed and no longer built.
