RINTELN: If you are looking for the "coolest place" in town, you will find it at the extreme tip of Rinteln behind Todenmann in the "Papenbrink" quarry. A constant 10 to 12 degrees Celsius comes from the mining tunnel, so you almost need a jacket even when the outside temperature is 30 degrees. The quarry can be reached on foot via the hiking car park in the hairpin bends from Todenmann to Kleinenbremen.
