Towards the end of the 18th century, the desire for a drivable connection between the front and rear Bregenzerwald grew in the Bregenzerwald. The original path crossed the Subersach at the site of today's Dahtsteg. In the 1820s and 1830s, numerous roads and paths were built or expanded in the Bregenzerwald, including the connection between Großdorf and Lingenau. Alois Negrelli, from 1825 to 1832
