From lohmarer-wald.net: There are burial mounds from the early Iron Age (800 to 450 BC) in numerous places on the Bergische Heideterrasse. Today they often only cover a few square meters and are usually only about one meter high. The weather and the construction activities of subsequent generations have left their mark.

At that time, Celtic tribes settled in the Rhine Valley on the middle terrace of the Rhine, which was safe from flooding. Today there is mostly nothing left of their wooden settlements.

The graves ... have usually been excavated and are therefore recognizable by a dent on the top. They have subsequently been declared archaeological monuments. Apart from clay vessels, rarely anything was preserved.
