The Küchensee in the south is the largest of the Ratzeburger small lakes and the most natural. Only in the north and northwest on the edge inhabited, the rest is lined with nature and endless reeds. At its southern end is still the remnant of the former Schaalseekanals. The west bank is reserved by the Bundesleistungszentrum for rowing and frequented. Beware of the accompanying motorboats - they like to criss-cross to look after their charges.
