Stake Lane is an excellent descent, although its nature has changed over the years. Always considered one of the more 'challenging' legal trails in the area, it was festooned with huge drops caused by erosion - it was pretty much impassable as a climb, and it was extremely technical as a descent. The floods of 2012 were a turning point, however, as funds were found to resurface large parts of the trail in an ever escalating battle against the elements. This caused some consternation among more technical trail-minded riders, but there's still much to enjoy on the descent, even though it doesn't present the challenge it once did.
