Glavica Mountain Lodge

Mountain Lodge Glavica is a cosy retreat on the western slopes of Medvednica, offering great views over Zagreb and hearty local food like pumpkin strudel and bean stew.

It’s a popular weekend spot with a playground and nearby access to Veternica Cave. With 30 beds available, it’s also a great place to stay overnight.

Mountain lodge Glavica was built in 1936, and in 1982 it was upgraded with new premises. It is located at a height of 420 m above sea level. It is most often reached by the lower access roads from Gornji Stenjevac (mountaineering trail 3 or hiking trail 8), then from Podsused by hiking trail 2 or the upper road from Ponikva meadow. Near the home is the famous "Veternica" cave.

In this mountain lodge, hikers are offered food and drink. In the yard of the lodge, there is a small playground for the youngest, and in front of the building of the mountain lodge is the "Glavica" memorial home with a commemorative plaque to the events of the Second World War.

The Glavica Lodge can be reached by car (there is an asphalt road called the Green Highway to the Ponikve meadows, and from Ponikve to the lodge there is a small, narrow, but asphalted road that can also be driven by a car. Website of the Glavica Lodge: glavica.files.wordpress.com
