VARMBADHUSET
Strömsholm Island got its name thanks to its placement between small and large currents. The older names of this same island are Tullholmen and Bränneriholmen.
Västervik's old warm bathhouse is now on Strömsholm, built in 1910 in Art Nouveau style based on drawings by Frederik Anderberg. The warm bathhouse was built at a time when a new ideal of hygiene and cleanliness was emerging. In the same spirit and about
at the same time the shopping halls at Fisherman's Square were built and the water tower that gave running water to Västervik. In 1975 it was no longer used as a bathhouse and since then it has been used, among other things, as a tourist information center. In autumn 2021 Hotel Slottsholmen, owned by Björn Ulvaeus (ABBA), will open a completely new SPA here.Source: vastervik.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Va%CC%88sterviksguiden2021.DE_.pdf
