The inlet structure Zitzschen was for flood protection u.a. built the city of Leipzig, whereby the Zwenkauer See acts as a substitute for the lost (by the open pit) Auenflächen Eichholz. Furthermore, the lake is currently flooded on this plant. For this purpose, pipes were installed underneath the circular route. Otherwise the way would be overflowed in this case.
