Today, Saarn Monastery no longer offers refuge to monks and nuns, but opens its doors to anyone who is interested. History you can touch is presented in the cellar vaults, while the outdoor area is more contemplative. Here you can imagine what the medieval monastery garden looked like or, like the bee colonies settled here, enjoy the numerous flowers and herbs that grow here. Numerous events take place in the monastery throughout the summer, so it's worth taking a look at the website: museum-kloster-saarn.de

Saarn Monastery was founded as the Mariensaal Monastery (Aula sanctae Mariae probably in 1214 together with the later Eppinghoven Monastery near Kaarst, which was also referred to as the Mariensaal), initially as a double monastery.
