Wanderup is a community in the district of Schleswig-Flensburg, which was a pure farming village with many farms until the land consolidation.

Wanderup is first mentioned as an old farming village in written records from the 14th century as "Wompsdorf".

As in all places in the world where concrete is beginning to take hold, agriculture has given way in Wanderup. There is no longer any farm in the village itself.

The only thing that reminds of rural life in the past is the coat of arms.

The upper part of the coat of arms depicts a cow and below it a golden eight-link chain.

The eight chain links supposedly stand for the eight districts of the municipality:
