The Flüela Pass looks pretty cool from above. A great route for road cyclists.

At an altitude of over 2,300 meters, the road winds its way over the Flüela Pass. It runs between Davos and the Engadin, but is only open during the summer months. The main European watershed runs across the mountain pass, dividing it into the Albula Alps and the Silvretta.

The pass is not safe in winter, the route runs through areas at risk of avalanches. Since the opening of the nearby Vereina line in 1999, it has been closed during the winter months. In summer, postbus services (mountain postal service) run on the Flüela pass road between Davos and the Engadin. In the summer season, a historic stagecoach travels every Tuesday from Davos Platz station to the Flüela Hospice and back with 6 horses. It is possible to travel the route there and back or to book just a part of the journey. Due to the cooperation with Postauto Graubünden, the ticket on the day of travel is also valid on the postbus line on the Flüela route.

Since the opening of the Vereina line, the Pro Flüela association has been campaigning to keep the pass open during the winter months. Since 2004, winter maintenance on the pass road has been carried out again in the Davos area and the road is used by BMW for test drives.

        Winter closure: January–April
