The town hall is the largest and most representative half-timbered building in Ummerstadt. The decorative framework was hidden under plaster until 1929, only since then has the almost 450-year-old building once again presented itself with a half-timbered façade - thus shaping the view of the market square at the front of which it stands.

The year 1558 is carved into the western corner of the foundation walls of the town hall: the year the town hall was built - or so it is assumed.
