At the Boatmen's Cross, which is mounted on a rock face halfway between Aschach and Neuhaus, passing boatmen would offer their prayers for safe passage. A quarter of a mile from the local high court, it served as a cautionary reminder to the rowdy crew. The crucifixion group was donated in 1802 by boatman Johann Georg Fischer.
Boatman Johann Georg Fischer was caught in a violent storm near this legendary rock on his way to Aschach and was rescued from apparent danger. He had acquired the group from the collection of the abandoned Pupping Monastery.
