Mountain biking
The knights Dörr von Wildungsmauer owned the castle from the 12th century until 1620. Altenburg was first mentioned in a document in 1297, but the Romanesque nave of the church and the ossuary date from the beginning of the 13th century. In the Middle Ages, the building served to secure the Hungarian Gate. After several changes of ownership, the castle came to the Freiherr von Ludwigstorff around 1709, who had Carlo Antonio Carlone expand it. After the Second World War, Ernst Zwilling's Africa Museum was temporarily housed in the castle. The castle is private and not accessible.
