The neo-Renaissance station building dates from 1896.[2] The roof came from the old station building of Antwerp East (now Antwerp Central Station).[3][4] The old roof was demolished earlier due to the high maintenance costs. A scale model of this roof was later built in the city park at the station of the steam train group.

In 2007, the entrance hall was radically renovated. The counters and associated areas for NMBS employees have also been renovated. The platforms were raised in 2019.
