It is an interesting example of a building erected in the Northern Neo-Renaissance forms typical of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Construction of a complex at ul. Saint Wojciech, financed by the Prussian central authorities, began in July 1899. The shell buildings were ready in April 1900. The final acceptance (German: Schlußrevision) was carried out by the Construction Police in December of that year. The state construction administration, which was the substitute investor, officially handed over the facility to the archival administration on March 15, 1901. The relocation of file and library collections from the facilities previously occupied by the archive began in mid-February 1901. This operation lasted 3 months. The new archive was available to external users from mid-March 1901. The new headquarters enabled Szczecin archivists to conduct archival work to a wider extent than before. This resulted in, among others: taking over a large number of historical files from Pomerania.
