Please check local regulations for: Wöhrder See
In the urban area (approx. 14 km) the river forms tributaries. In the eastern part of the city the river is dammed to form Lake Wöhrder. Numerous bridges and footbridges cross the water; et al. the iron suspension bridge (chain bridge) from 1824. There is a weir west of the Max Bridge. In the western part of the city, the river was renatured in several sections from 1998 to 2001; The design was based on the historic riverbed. A scoop wheel was also rebuilt there based on a historical model. In the urban area of Nuremberg there are several weirs that were built as flood protection.
They are the Katharinen and Bauriedel weirs on the island of Schütt, the Nägeleins weir near Weinstadel and the Großweidenmühl weir on Hallerwiese. Two more weirs are pending for Lake Wöhrder.
Fürth: There are numerous bridges and footbridges. As part of the Uferstadt Fürth project (conversion of the former Grundig headquarters into a business park), the river in the eastern part of the city was converted into a natural bed in 2003; Two new loops and flattened banks have been created over a length of one kilometer. Part of the former riverbed was retained as oxbow lake. This measure was co-financed by the European Union.
