Goldegg Castle was first mentioned in 1293, and between 1589 and 1639 it was rebuilt by the Enenkel family into a three-winged complex in the late Renaissance style. Today it houses the St. Pölten Golf Club and the “Castello” restaurant. The castle includes a ballroom, a chapel and an extensive castle garden with a pond and historical buildings such as a wooden pleasure house and a glasshouse from the 19th century. The surrounding area offers scenic routes, especially along the Traisental.
