There is no confirmed derivation of the name Ziegenfauze. A local legend has it that a man came home with an uncovered goat because he had spent the money on covering it at the inn. Thereupon he got a fauze from his wife. This is an outdated Saxon expression for 'slap in the face'. Maybe the goat also got a slap in the face. Or the goat hit the man. Or the local goats got into a fight and the owners bet on it. Who knows. However the place got its name, the local contractor found it too silly at some point, which is why he had it changed to Neu-Lömischau. However, this new name never really caught on.
