Secondary construction, i. it was built on the site of a much older chapel, whose foundation walls were found next to the new building. Equipped with eight benches, the well-kept chapel can accommodate around 20 people. The altar, which is protected by a very high iron grille, is dominated by a three-part altarpiece: on the left there is the search for hostels of Joseph and Mary, in the middle the adoration of the shepherds, on the right the adoration of the Magi. The foot of the altar shows the Annunciation and the flight to Egypt. On the left side of the altar there is an interesting inscription: "St. George, as a knight, intervenes as a knight through your martyr death for us in heaven". 2 Madonna statues - one of wax and a clothed Madonna in a shrine - are also part of the equipment. A Madonna figure on the altar is described as a replica of the weeping Madonna of Syracuse. The chapel has no ceiling paintings, but 14 stations of the cross on small wooden boards. On the outside of the chapel stands a statue of St. John with a book. Earlier in the Obernkapelle the Ave was rung in the morning, at noon and in the evening. Today, this happens only in the evening. The nine farm owners of Obern Obern get it in a nine-year cycle. His own so-called chapel letter - over 140 years old - sets the
Order in which the owner of the farm Aveläuten each by a year
need to get. In the past many prayers were held in the chapels:
Until 25 years ago, an evening rose wreath was prayed in the Obernkapelle from Easter to All Saints Day on Sunday. As late as the 1960s, St. Augustine's Day (28th August) was followed by a prayer walk to this chapel.
