The Hnědý vrch observation tower is located on the peak of the same name at 1207 m above sea level at the upper station of the Pec pod Sněžkou - Hnědý vrch cable car in the Giant Mountains. The wooden observation tower with steel elements and a spiral staircase was built according to the plans of architect Michal Rosa in 2009.

Brown Hill (German: Braunberg) is a locality on the southeastern slope of Liščí hora in the eastern part of the Krkonoše Mountains. The place was named after the local highlander Braun. After the displacement of the German population of the Krkonoše Mountains, local names were adjusted to Czech form. When creating the Czech name, the original German name Braunberg (Braun's Mountain) was distorted to Brown Hill, because the new Czech inhabitants believed that the German name referred to the color (braun – brown) and not the person.
