Pieces is the largest district in terms of area of the municipality Michendorf in the district of Potsdam-Mittelmark. The place has 496 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2020), including the location Gut Breite, on an area of 13.80 square kilometers and is located in the Nuthe-Nieplitz Nature Park.

The place, which was very likely already settled in the Slavic period, was a manor village in the Middle Ages, which had an outbuilding. Due to its central location in the Nuthe-Nieplitz nature park, the development of the village, which has long been characterized by agriculture, is increasingly geared towards cautious tourism and has served as a film set several times.

The first known mention of the place name can be found in two documents that contain the personal name of a Gyso ("Gyso, miles, dictus de Stycker" as a witness in 1317 in Stangenhagen) or Giese ("Giese de Sticken" in 1321 in Beelitz). In 1375 the land register of Charles IV recorded the settlement as "Sticken".

After Friedrich II had compulsory schooling stipulated in the General School Regulations in 1763, the invitation to attend school also prevailed in the villages. The beginning of the school operation probably goes back in pieces to the years 1849/1850.

Probably after the great fire of 1847, in which almost the entire building stock of the village was destroyed down to the foundation walls, the school building was also erected in the course of the reconstruction. The Stücken children were taught in this until the spring of 1967.

A picturesque village. It's fun to go through it.
