This is the closed Tintern Tunnel not the open Tidenham Tunnel. There were plans to connect to Tintern Old Station via this and a bridge but I believe this has since been shelved. Cool bit of history. Until the Wireworks Bridge into Tintern is open again there is no bike crossing onto the welsh side except climbing through Tidenham Chase and into Brockweir that way. If you're a bit adventurous look at the highlights on the paths around here. Most are only suitable for MTB but some you can negotiate with a touring bike.

The route follows the path of the old railway line just above the river, and there is a tunnel at both ends.
