Charleston's Waterfront Park, spanning over 10 acres along Concord Street, offers a great viewing area for Charleston Harbor and the Cooper River. Once a bustling maritime hub, the area declined after the Civil War and was later transformed from a weed-ridden lot into a celebrated park in the 1980s. Today, it features wide riverfront walking paths, family-sized swings, a large central lawn, and sightseeing opportunities, with frequent appearances by pelicans, egrets, and sailboats. Check out the northern pier with a shaded gazebo and T-shaped platform. Open daily, the park is popular with runners, bikers, and birdwatchers, and its central fountain, surrounded by colorful fuchsia blooms in spring, is a must-see.
