Vorbeck is located on the upper Warnowtal at an old river crossing. The village church is located north of the village on a hill in the middle of the cemetery. A shady, atmospheric avenue of lime trees leads from the country road to the church.

The villages of Kladow, Kritzow and Vorbeck have belonged together since July 26, 1317 at the latest. In 1949 Kladow left the association. Kritzow and Vorbeck remain in the von Bülow family for another 100 years. After that, Vorbeck often changes hands.

The oldest part of the church is the east gable. It is part of the early Gothic brick building that was probably already standing in 1317. The window shapes and the beautiful painted ceiling date from the period after the Thirty Years' War, in the late Baroque period. Extensions were later added to the choir area in the south and north around 1860. Below and below the chancel is the burial vault of the von Bülow family.

The altarpiece is a Gothic triptych, probably made in a Wismar workshop around 1490. In 1999, after extensive restoration, it was put up again in Andreas Volkmar's workshop in Lüblow. Before that, it was in safe custody for years. For safety reasons, the figures are not in the altar, but are only placed inside on special occasions. The altar shows Christ and Mary in the middle, surrounded by Anna Selbdritt, Barbara, Margareta and an unknown saint. The 12 apostles are on the side wings.

Like so many churches, the Vorbeck Church suffered greatly at the end of the war and afterwards. Church roof and tower roof were leaking and the rain particularly damaged the wood. The most necessary repairs were laboriously carried out.

It is thanks to love for the home church that the family of Gneven's last landowner, the Buss family, were so committed to the restoration of the church.
