One of London's best-known viewpoints, Observatory Hill provides a glorious panorama across both the City of London and Canary Wharf especially.

Greenwich Park and the Old Royal Naval College provide the foreground, while the ever-developing skyline of Canary Wharf provides much of the visual clout. The meandering Thames then draws the eye towards Central London, where iconic sights like the Shard, the Gherkin and St Paul's Cathedral can be seen.

If you are visiting Greenwich, then this viewpoint is worth a small diversion to. Looking across to the city gives a uniqie view towards the modern skyscrapers. The observatory is also worth a visit just next to the hill, where the prime meridian is and can be learned about.

A beautiful view of London from a distance. Definitely worth seeing is the historic observatory where many famous astronomers worked and the Harrison clocks that were located there, which solved the navigation problem and thus contributed to England's naval supremacy.
