The Évançon (pron. fr. AFI: [evɑ̃sɔ̃]; sometimes spelled as Évençon, homophone) is the watercourse that flows through the Val d'Ayas and is a left tributary of the Dora Baltea. Its name in Aosta Valley patois could mean "great water", or "water that comes from the top of the mountains" (éva d'en som). In archival documents it is often referred to as "l'eau blanche" (French, "white water"). Wikipedia
