The decommissioned Grohnde nuclear power plant (KWG) is located on the Weser north of the district of Grohnde in the Lower Saxony municipality of Emmerthal in the Hameln-Pyrmont district. The rated output of the power plant was 3900 megawatts (thermal). The net electrical output was around 1360 megawatts. 193 UO2 fuel assemblies with an enrichment of up to 4% by weight 235U and MOX fuel assemblies were used. The reactor belonged to the second generation in Germany, the so-called pre-convoy plants, and first went critical (i.e. reached normal operating condition) on September 1, 1984. After 37 years of operation, the decommissioning took place on December 31, 2021
