The Hiltbolt-von-Schwangau-Brunnen (also called Hiltepold-Brunnen) is located in Hohenschwangau, directly on Alpseestraße, near the ticket center and the path to the royal castles.
The fountain figure is reminiscent of Hiltbolt von Schwangau, an important minnesinger of the 13th century and a member of the Lords of Schwangau. His family had its ancestral seat in the area of today's Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein castles. More than 20 love songs by Hiltbolt have been handed down, which is why he is considered one of the most important representatives of Swabian minnesang.
