Kitzbühel city center
Kitzbühel is a small town in the Alps, located east of Innsbruck and part of the state of Tyrol in western Austria.
The elegant (winter) sports resort is known for its annual Hahnenkamm race. Exclusive shops and cafés can be found along the streets of the medieval town center.

Kitzbühel Medieval town, young flair
We reach the oldest part of the town: the town wall with the Jochberger Gate and the Pfleghof. A castle with a residential wing and watchtower stood here as early as 1120. Today, all that remains of the former Kitzbühel Castle is the five-story Pfleghof tower. The Jochberger Gate is the entrance to the historic old town, from here you can see the entire “promenade” for the first time. I now understand what Pepi means when he talks about the “very special aura” of this town: the colorful house facades shine in the morning sun, tables and chairs are set up in front of the cafés and umbrellas are put up. At the other end of the old town, the two towers of the Liebfrauen and Andreas churches greet you, and you can even see the Wilder Kaiser behind them. I actually feel a bit like I’m on vacation. Now I’m going to drink a cappuccino, do a bit of window shopping, wonderful! I’m definitely planning to do that in the afternoon.
