The statue of Finland's former Governor General Per Brahe stands in a heroic pose in the green surroundings of Brahenpuisto Park and is intricately sculpted. The statue was designed by Walter Runeberg and erected as a memorial to Brahe, who served the country with a wise hand. The base of the statue is made of red granite, on which stands the bronze statue with a height of 2.95 meters. A closer look at this historic statue reveals a poignant inscription in Swedish that reads: "I was happy with my country and my country was happy with me." Another example of the same statue, designed by Runeberg, was sold to Raahe, where it graces the Pekkatori district.
