The Cancale Museum is in the building of the former Saint-Méen church in Cancale, in the French department of Ille-et-Vilaine, in the Brittany region. The church was built by the engineer and architect Siméon Garangeau between 1715 and 1727 on the site of a primitive church dating back to the Middle Ages. Too small, it was replaced by the current Saint-Méen church, built in 1875 by the architect Alfred-Louis Frangeul (komoot.com/highlight/475853). This regional museum in the former Eglise St-Meen (1714) is dedicated to the arts and traditions of Cancale: fishing, oyster farming, agriculture (potato farming), life in Cancale, hairdressing and traditional costumes, furniture, etc. It also discusses the life of Jeanne Jugan and the nautical school, which has been at home in the city for over a century.

A very interesting museum with numerous artifacts retracing the city's history. Particularly the life of fishermen of yesteryear who boarded sailboats bound for Newfoundland, and the history and development of oyster farming. A must-see! Why not during a light downpour? ;)
