Wonderful inclined lift to get to the Aletsch promenade from further down on the Alpmatten without much effort, e.g. with the purchases. :-)
The chalet settlement Alpmatten is located below the village center of Bettmeralp. In 2000, the Alpmatten inclined lift between Alpmatten and the mountain station below the main road opened for better access. In the beginning it was called "Schräglift Mieschgihalta".

It is a funicular with a carriage and a counterweight. Instead of a second carriage, a counterweight moves up and down in the rail channel under the cabin.
The self-service system comes from the company Garaventa. The only chariot overcomes in
2 minutes a height difference of 66 meters.
