The Friedrichstal is the "valley of the hammers" because the foundation stone for the Royal Swabian Hüttenwerke was laid here in 1761 with the establishment of a hammer forge. The hammering of the workers sounded through the whole valley, which is where it got its name from. The transmission-driven hammers were used to make scythes.

Interesting and open to the public how the scythes used to be made. There are also many diagrams with explanations.

The small museum marks the spot where the scythe and shovel forge of the Royal Ironworks stood from 1810. The “stove fresh process”, invented in 1803 by Friedrich August Pulvermüller, made it possible to produce high-quality steel from low-quality iron and the scythes found good sales worldwide. The steady spread of mowing machines ended the forge's success and the building was demolished in 1965.

The hammers and equipment in this museum are used from time to time to illustrate the steel processing of the time. You can smell the smell of coal fire under the roof.
