The salt fountain is located on the Haune directly on the Haunetalradweg near Rothenkirchen. It has been bubbling from time immemorial. The mineral water
contains table salt and plaster. The abundant iron ions colored the watercourse red / brown.
I have already tried the water. In my view it tastes hideous - but should be healthy. I have already observed people who fetched the water from small milk churns.
There are only a few mineral waters whose magnesium and calcium content can keep up with this water.
