    The Sigmundsbrunnen in Hall

The copper-driven fountain figure by Rudolf Reinhart (1933) stands on the Lower Town Square and represents Archduke Sigmund of Tyrol.

In 1477, Archduke Sigmund moved the mint from Merano to Hall in Tyrol and had the first large silver coin (thaler) minted here.

Archduke Sigismund had a significant influence on the history of the city of Hall in Tirol with the founding of the mint.

The fountain figure depicts Archduke Sigmund of Tirol (who ordered the transfer of the Mint from Merano to Hall) and was created by Linz-based artist Rudolf Reinhart. The inscription makes me smile: Sigmund ‘the Rich in Coin’ by Reinhart ‘the Poor in Coin’.
