From the road, this trail leads to the Hut Rifugio Palmieri at Croda da Lago.

There are some steep sections on the path, but you are rewarded with an open view of the valley.

As well as being a lovely place, Lake Federa occasionally attracts swimmers in the summer. Hikers on the Alta Via 1 (AV1) and day hikers can stay at the Hut Rifugio Palmieri.
There are a limited number of places, so booking in advance is essential.

In the background the rocks of la Croda da Lago and on the horizon the Beco De Mezodi peak: Spectacular Dolomite landscapes tinged pink at sunset.
