Schwarzach is located in the Neckartal-Odenwald Nature Park on the southern edge of the Small Odenwald with a view of the Kraichgau.
Schwarzach was first mentioned in 1143. In 1823 the community was divided into the independent communities of Unterschwarzach and Oberschwarzach. In the mid-19th century, about a third of the population emigrated to North America for economic reasons. In 1972, Oberschwarzach was incorporated into Unterschwarzach. On January 20, 1972, the municipality of Unterschwarzach was renamed Schwarzach.
Schwarzach has a heated swimming pool, an Alla Hopp facility and in the large wildlife park there is a petting zoo and an African playground. Schwarzach also has a camper place with a kiosk.
