The town of Wiesen was created as the administrative seat of the Counts of Rieneck at the intersection of Eselsweg and Birkenhainer Straße. The two trade routes were also used intensively for cross-regional and international transport of livestock and commercial goods. On the one hand, the crossing point was a sought-after resting place, but on the other hand it was also a place for customs collection. After the establishment of the Wiesbüttsee around 1768, the cattle trough was relocated to the Judenbörnchen - at the back next to the Wiesbüttmoor - to avoid problems with contamination of drinking water.
