The Kahle Asten is a popular excursion destination in the Sauerland, which is best known for its idyllic landscape and the sources of the Odeborn and Lenne rivers. Due to the Atlantic westerly winds, the climate is humid above average, resulting in a high amount of precipitation. The clouds build up on the western slopes of the mountains, which leads to an increased frequency of fog and one of the lowest sunshine durations in Germany.

The Asten Tower can be climbed for a small fee, with visitors accessing the viewing platform via a narrow spiral staircase. In addition to the impressive views, there is a cozy restaurant as well as a unique hotel and a small nature museum in the tower. The Kahle Asten and the Astenturm are therefore not only an attractive destination for nature lovers and hikers, but also offer cultural and historical insights into the Sauerland region.
