Around 842, ecclesia de Puire was obliged to pay a tithe after villa Pladono (Bludenz) and was therefore declared to belong to the parish. The church was an early mass foundation around 1347. The church was elevated to parish church before 1442. Around 1480 a new building was built, whereby the choir was preserved. In 1768 the church was made baroque. In 1843 the nave was renewed and extended after a fire and consecrated in 1872.
