In Oostduinkerke you can learn about the life of fishermen back then. This tradition is still maintained here because it is the only place in Europe where crabs are still caught on horseback. At low tide you can see the fishermen at work. And the crabs are not just caught. Cooking demonstrations are regularly held and you can also buy crabs.

In 2013, shrimp fishing on horseback was added to the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage. The tradition has been around for about 500 years.
