The church was built in the first half of the 14th century. It was built of granite stone. In the 16th century, two burial chapels were added on the south and north sides. In the 18th century, the window openings were rebuilt. The church underwent a more serious renovation in the 19th century. The roof truss was replaced, a tower was added, and the gable walls were bricked. In 1980, a porch was added on the west side.

Next to the stairs leading to the church, a figure of Mary stands on a stone plinth. In reality, it is a monument to the villagers who died during World War I. German inscriptions have been preserved on the back wall of the plinth.
