The project “Investigation of climate and mass balance on the Dachstein Glacier” has been running on the Hallstatt Glacier since September 2006. The climate and its impact on the Hallstatt Glacier have now been studied for more than 15 years. For this purpose, a monitoring system was set up to examine how much mass the glacier gains or loses depending on the weather. The research project provides important information for a better understanding of the behavior of glaciers in the Northern Alps.
