Bike Touring Highlight
The market square was the center of the Eichstadt town, which had developed between the cathedral and the St. Walburg monastery in the Middle Ages. Here once stood the parish church, the former Eichstätter Bürgerkirche. Of the Gothic building, however, only the north wall was preserved. In 1444 the town hall with the towering tower was built on the market square. The late Gothic building was redesigned in the early 19th century. Since then, the town hall has had a neo-baroque facade with a curved gable and a balcony on the main front.Source:
