Lößnitz is located on the Chemnitz–Aue railway line, where there are two access points to local rail passenger transport in the urban area with the upper and lower train stations. The operator of the route infrastructure is the Erzgebirgsbahn, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn AG. Since the route was integrated into the Chemnitz model in January 2022, City-Bahn Chemnitz trains have been running every hour to Aue or via Thalheim to Chemnitz and Burgstädt. In local transport - as with the bus lines touching Lößnitz - the tariff of the Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachsen applies.
